we started this blog so our friends and family can keep track of border hopping and continent crossing, because group emails are so boring... plus we have some cool London finds to share with you. watch this space to see where in the world we are (leave us a comment if you like what you see)

Hamburg - March 2011

After finally getting a six month Schengen in the boerewors book, we could visit Uwe in Hamburg at last. Timing couldn't really have been worse because Uwe was about to move out of his flat and had packed up everything. Now we are accustomed to Uwe 'The Bachelor' Rode's ill-equipped pads (will someone please buy the man a bottle opener?), but this was extreme. Ever the gracious host, he welcomed us with open arms (even though he had to borrow linen and towels from Ollie - thanks Ollie!) and put us up in great comfort in his very central apartment. We arrived late on Friday night, dropped our bag and went straight to a no-fuss Asian restaurant, then on to a friend's housewarming party. According to Uwe, on weekends in Hamburg, people do brunch, so that's what we did both days. The rest of the weekend was spent drinking Weiss beer, discovering Hamburg on foot, a harbour tour followed by a fish sandwich and dinner followed by a local club - experiencing Hamburg like a local. Prost! Click here for more photos.
